1031 CORP. Welcomes Lucas Ecklund-Baker to the Communication Team

1031 CORP. welcomes Lucas Ecklund-Baker, who will serve in the company’s newly developed position as Communications Specialist. He is responsible for advancing communications and public relations functions at 1031 CORP.

“Lucas is a great fit for our communications team. 1031 CORP.’s perspective and advice have been central to our relationships with clients, so it just makes sense. I had the pleasure of working with Lucas when we worked with our national trade association for Qualified Intermediaries. I experienced his work ethic and writing skills. I am thrilled to be working with him again and know his contributions will benefit the needs of 1031 CORP. clients,” said Margo McDonnell, 1031 CORP.’s president. “Working with Margo and the 1031 CORP. team through FEA was always rewarding and fun. 1031 CORP. is a leader in the industry and shows their value in relationships. Margo leads the way. I’m grateful and excited to be a part of the 1031 CORP. family,” said Ecklund-Baker.

Lucas comes from a governmental agency responsible for regional urban planning, economic development, and transportation development in Northwest Indiana. He reads about urban planning issues that affect the ways people use real estate and public space, such as affordable housing, transportation, equitable cities, and quality of place.

Lucas has several years of communications experience in the 1031 exchange industry. He previously served as communications manager for the Federation of Exchange Accommodators (FEA), the national trade association for the 1031 exchange industry. Lucas managed the FEA newsletter and worked with McDonnell on member and advocacy communications for the association. He served as an assistant to FEA Government Affairs Committee leadership, including McDonnell, during the advocacy effort to prevent repeal of Section 1031 leading up to the passage of the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. He helped develop the Government Affairs Update newsletter and the FEA’s industry advocacy site at www.1031buildsamerica.org. He was awarded the FEA President’s Award in 2016 and with FEA government affairs leaders in 2017, when McDonnell served as FEA president.

He and his family live in Valparaiso, Indiana, outside of Chicago, near the southern tip of Lake Michigan.
