Team members were recognized for excellence in 2023 at the annual awards ceremony.
COLLEGEVILLE, PA – “One Team. Stronger Together,” the theme of the 2023 1031 CORP. Annual Awards night, held on April 4, 2024, reflected the team's shared attitude of service, collaboration, and excellence. Visualized as a focused rowing crew, the theme carried through the team motto during 2023, and each of the team awards for excellence.
Four awards are given for team members’ contributions to team and company success each year. Margo McDonnell, President of 1031 CORP., recognized team members Cindi Platt Elliott, CES®, Katie Bromley, Gabbie Durante, and Cait Fling for their exceptional contributions during the 2023. Jennifer Edmondson, Marissa LoCascio, CES® and Grace Rivera, CES® received a special recognition award.
McDonnell, who led the awards ceremony, said, “Our theme keeps the journey in mind: a shared vision, trust and coordination, resilience in the face of storms, and celebrated progress brings us to the shore we’ve been longing for. These team members represented true excellence in 2023 and allowed the entire team to paddle in sync. We should all be ridiculously proud of the best crew in the industry!”
Cindi Platt-Elliott, CES®, Senior Exchange Officer, was recognized with the 2023 Excellence Award. This award recognizes “an unwavering commitment to providing exceptional service to external and internal customers.” Cindi was commended as “always kind and patient with everyone she speaks to—in customer service evaluations and on the phone with her clients. She is always willing to step in to help her fellow teammates. She is an excellent representative of 1031 CORP.,” in a poll of the 1031 CORP. team.
Katie Bromley, Exchange Coordinator, was recognized with the 2023 Dare to Soar Award. This award recognizes the person who “stepped up to make things happen despite being very busy with other everyday responsibilities.” Katie was commended for her great attitude, her willingness to help her teammates, and “doing her best and keeping her clients on track" while planning team-building activities and assisting with business development efforts.
Gabbie Durante, Exchange Coordinator, was recognized with the 2023 Teamwork Award. The award recognizes “those who work towards a common vision, becoming the fuel that allows others to attain uncommon results.” Gabbie was recognized as “always willing to step in and help other teams with whatever she can. I don’t think there is a team that hasn’t had the benefit of Gabbie’s assistance. She does it quietly and does not expect recognition.”
Cait Fling, HR Relationship Manager, was recognized with the 2023 Bill Cotter Eagle Award. This award, created in honor of Bill Cotter, founder of 1031 CORP., recognizes “an individual who has demonstrated exceptional and innovative leadership at 1031 CORP.” A team nomination commended Cait: “Cait has taken on her new role as HR Relationship Manager with positive energy and a fresh leadership perspective. She is always focused on the company goals and objectives and, many times, is first to point out that we are falling off-track in meetings and discussions. We are very fortunate to have her on our team.” While Margo McDonnell has the final decision on this award recipient, nominations from team members overwhelmingly recommended Cait Fling. This award was inspired by the Golden Eagle Award presented by T.A. Title Insurance Company where 1031 CORP. traces its roots. Each year, T.A. Title held its annual T.A. Star Awards and used nominations from team members to recognize those who exemplified their core values.
Jennifer Edmondson, Branch Manager of the company’s office in Bend, Oregon; Marissa LoCascio, CES®, Senior Vice President and Chief Compliance Officer; and Grace Rivera, CES®, Exchange Officer and VP of Reverse 1031 CORP., were recognized with the 2023 Make It Happen Award. This award recognizes “individuals who work tirelessly on initiatives that contribute to growth and innovation.”
All awards, with the exception of the Bill Cotter Eagle Award, are the result of peer nominations and votes. The winner of the Bill Cotter Eagle Award is selected by McDonnell.
During the awards ceremony, McDonnell also recognized hundreds of written “high five” comments the team gave each other throughout the year. Team members who were voted winners in 1031 CORP.’s monthly “You Rock!” awards were recognized, as well as those celebrating milestone anniversaries at the company.
